The Eagle Has Landed

Good morning all,

Yahoo Brickhouse is a development team whose function is to create innovative new revenue streams that take advantage of Yahoo!’s resources and array of properties.
Their latest release brings location-based advertising a little closer to a commercial reality:

Fire Eagle is a platform that allows users to easily submit their location to a large range of social tools such as Facebook, Mobblr, and Pownce.

Through this platform, it becomes possible for users to share their location with anyone who might care to know.
As we have come to expect, the social benefits for the user are paralleled by commercial benefits for advertisers: Yahoo! plan to sell location-based advertising space over the next few years.

Though this may seem a distant reality, I believe Yahoo!’s latest move is a further sign that Mobile’s increasing capability and connectivity with the web, will soon allow us to join the dots between Online, TV and Outdoor.

Just a thought. What do you lot think?

Tom
